Notes from the 138th Canton Fair: Foss Sports’ Silicon PU Track and Global Harvest

As the flow of people in the exhibition area for building materials gradually increases, the new silicon PU Court samples at Foss Sports booth are already surrounded by buyers who are stopping. As a participant deeply involved in the field of running tracks and stadium facilities, we showcased our latest research and development achievements at the 138th Canton Fair. Over the course of five days, we not only allowed global customers to witness the strength of Chinese sports manufacturing, but also gained growth and inspiration that far exceeded expectations.

Booth Focus: Deep Dialogue between Australian Customers and Silicon PU Court

Our 150 square meter booth has been carefully crafted into a ‘product experience center’, and among the three core Sport Court samples, the latest developed third-generation silicon PU court is undoubtedly the absolute focus. As soon as this product incorporating organic silicon modification technology made its debut, it caught the attention of Harry, a senior venue operator in Australia. He led his team straight to the sample area, holding a list of local community venue renovation needs in his hand.

Our venue has to withstand over 200 youth events every year, and the existing track has cracked in just three years. Can your product solve this problem? “Harry’s question goes straight to the core. Adam, the salesperson in charge of reception, immediately stepped forward and did not rush to introduce. Instead, he carefully read the list of requirements and then provided a professional answer: “Mr. Harry, the durability issue you are concerned about is precisely the upgrade focus of this product. It uses organic silicon for molecular modification of polyurethane, and the elastic layer can withstand extreme temperature differences from -20 ℃ to 60 ℃. It will not pulverize or crack in the strong ultraviolet environment of Australia. The Taber wear value is only 0.018g/1000r, and the service life can reach more than 10 years. Harry signed the sample testing agreement on the spot and agreed to visit the Shandong factory for inspection after the exhibition.

Exhibition harvest: triple value accumulation beyond orders

1. Market insight: Accurately capturing global demand differences

The dialogue with global clients allows us to clearly outline the demand profile of different regions, which is more vivid than any market research. Customers in Oceania, such as Australia and New Zealand, value weather resistance and environmental certification the most. In addition to performance indicators such as UV resistance and high temperature resistance, they almost always proactively inquire about WA certification status; Southeast Asian customers prioritize construction efficiency and cost control, with modular paving and economical formula products being more favored; However, European and American customers have begun to pay attention to “sports dataization” and have repeatedly inquired whether intelligent monitoring modules can be integrated.

The most unexpected discovery came from feedback from customers in South America. Several Brazilian buyers mentioned that plate tennis is rapidly becoming popular locally, but specialized court materials are scarce. This information made us acutely aware of the gap in the segmented market. The R&D team completed the preliminary conceptual design of adapting silicon PU materials to plate tennis courts at the exhibition site, seizing the opportunity for future market expansion.

2. Product validation: Market feedback loop for technological upgrades

The Canton Fair has become the “global touchstone” for our new silicon PU runway. In addition to the durability that Australian customers are concerned about, Middle Eastern customers have tested the product’s anti fouling performance in simulated sand and dust environments and confirmed that rinsing with clean water can restore cleanliness; Nordic customers have verified the elasticity retention rate in low-temperature environments, and can still maintain energy return performance of over 85% at minus 20 ℃.

These test feedbacks from different climate zones and usage scenarios have formed a complete set of product optimization recommendations. For example, in response to the demand for “fast drainage” from Middle Eastern customers, the technical team has planned to add micrometer level drainage channels in the elastic layer; According to the suggestions of the campus purchaser, more customized color schemes will be launched. This closed loop of “collecting exhibition demands and rapidly iterating products” allows our research and development to be more closely aligned with market reality.

3. Collaboration Expansion: Building a Global Service Network

The value of exhibitions goes far beyond the achievement of individual orders, but also lies in building bridges for long-term cooperation. We have not only signed agency intention agreements with 5 overseas purchasers, but also reached a cooperation consensus with two industry chain partners: one is a local construction enterprise in Australia, which can provide on-site services for local customers within 48 hours; The other is an intelligent device company, whose site monitoring sensors can be combined with our silicon PU runway to achieve real-time collection of data such as elastic attenuation and flatness changes.

What is even more precious is the trust endorsement of old customers. A domestic engineering contractor who purchased our runway in 2023 specially brought a delegation from the Vietnamese Ministry of Education to visit, pointing to the quality certification on the booth and saying, “The campus runway built last year has passed the rainy season test, and all indicators are still better than the contract standards.” This recognition prompted the delegation to add 10 sets of sample orders on the spot, paving the way for the Vietnamese campus renovation project.

Conclusion: Carrying the harvest to the global arena

When the exhibition was withdrawn, team members’ notebooks were filled with three types of content: personalized customer needs, market characteristics of different regions, and potential cooperation directions. The 138th Canton Fair is like a bridge connecting Chinese manufacturing with global demand, allowing our silicon PU track to be tested by the world and enabling us to see clearly the future development path.

The weather resistance suggestions from Australia, new demands from the South American market, and new ideas for intelligent cooperation will all become the driving force for Foss Sports to move forward. Just as every track we lay is designed to carry more sports dreams, the harvest of this Canton Fair will also help us run more steadily and further on the global sports flooring track. The next stop, we are ready to go.
